The Efficacy of Nature-Friendly Chemicals Eugenol and Sodium Bicarbonate against Post-Harvest Botrytis cinerea in Two Pepper Cultivars

Grey mold, caused by Botrytis cinerea, is the most important pre-harvest and post-harvest disease of pepper. The leads to huge losses in quality yield Synthetic fungicides should not be used because their harmful residues fruits postharvest. Hence, alternative chemicals have gained more importance for human health now-a-days. In this study, postharvest effectiveness eugenol sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) B. cinerea was determined on two pepper varieties, ‘Demre’ ‘Charleston’ obtained from fields Çanakkale. essay Eugenol at dosages 0.75 1.5%, while 0.5 1.0%. Pepper varieties showed significantly different sensitivities against grey mold (P < 0.01), case reflected also efficacies chemicals. During eight days storage, Charleston sensitive than peppers. NaHCO3 high dosage (1.0%) completely inhibited lower dose (i.e., 0.5%) highly effective (providing 95% reduction disease) but its efficacy a little variety (84%). Efficacy (83.7%) 1.5% 'Demre' found like 0.5% Alternative had no adverse effects varieties.
